New Billy Crystal comedy picked up by FX

By Marcina Zaccaria ,

The Comedians, the new brainchild from Billy Crystal, will be coming to FX this year.

FX chief John Landgraf told Variety, “It truly is an honor to be in business with Billy Crystal and Larry Charles, two of the all-time greats in comedy. We have also wanted for some time to be in business with Matt Nix, who has done such an amazing job creating and running ‘Burn Notice.’ They, along with Ben Wexler, are an unbeatable team and we’re incredibly excited about this project.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show focuses on two comedians, Billy Crystal and Josh Gad, a younger comedian known for a late night, sketch comedy show. Larry Charles, Matt Nix, and Ben Wexler will serve as writers and executive producers on the project, with Crystal and Gad.

Gad is an actor whose work has been seen in Frozen, Jobs, Thanks for Sharing, and the television show New Girl. Crystal is an award winning comedian whose movies include City Slickers, Throw Momma from the Train, Running Scared, and Mr. Saturday Night. His most recent television efforts include Web Therapy and Freedom: A History of Us.
