Oliver Stone drops out of upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. bio-pic

By Chelsea Lewis ,

Director Oliver Stone has dropped out of an upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. film. He has been in talks for the past few months to be at the helm of the project.

According to Variety, back in October it was reported that Stone was looking at directing and Jamie Foxx was attached to star as Dr. King.

Stone provided further details his departure from the project on his Twitter account.

Stone continued his comments on Twitter by adding that he thanked for fans for their support and he wished they could have seen the film that he as a director wanted to make.

The Wrap added that Stone claims that his script dealt with "King’s infidelity and conflicts within the non-violent movement" he was so passionately behind.

The film was rumored to be telling the story of Dr. King that would follow the Civil Rights hero from his rise all the way to his assassination in 1968.

No replacement director has yet to be announced by either Warner Bros. and DreamWorks.
