Police in the Philippines have arrested four men and seized $30 million worth of methamphetamine.
According to the Associated Press, the second-largest drug bust in just 10 days happened on Friday when a van loaded with six crates of crystal methamphetamine was stopped by police, said Senior Superintendent Bartolome Tobias, head of the Philippine National Police anti-illegal drugs task force.
The Shanghai Daily has reported that the four male suspects in the van denied any knowledge of what was packed inside the crates and maintained that they were only asked to deliver the boxes to Cavite province.
Last week, Filipino police arrested two Canadian gang members in a raid and seized cocaine, MMDA and methamphetamine totaling more than $2 million. The drugs were allegedly shipped from Mexico to the Philippines.
"Each gram of drug the police are able to remove from our communities is already something because we are able to reduce the amount of drugs poisoning our people," said Arturo Cacdac, Chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
