Regina Spektor opts to skip the Grammys

By Amy Michura,

On January 23, Regina Spektor announced that she will not be attending the 2014 Grammys on Jan. 26.

The 33-year-old singer made the announcement on Facebook, saying, “Hi there friends! I was so happy to be nominated for my first Grammy! I would have definitely gone to L.A. for all the fun, in a party dress and with bells on, if I wasn’t so super pregnant at the moment. Jack and I are very excited to be expecting a brand new human together!!!”

According to Us Magazine, this is Spektor’s first child with husband Jack Dishel, fellow singer-songwriter.

Spektor also revealed what she’s been up to since being “super pregnant.”

She wrote this statement on Facebook: “I’ve been spending most of my time writing songs, dreaming up the new record, cooking soup, eating soup, and being very grateful for the people in my life-family, friends, and you ... So I’m glad to share the news, and I wish everyone who is going to the Grammys an amazing night! Thank you to the Grammy peeps for nominating ‘You’ve Got Time!’ I’ll see you from the couch.”

The song ‘You’ve Got Time’ is Spektor’s first Grammy nomination for the Best Song Written for Visual Media. It’s the theme song of Orange Is the New Black, which is a Netflix original series.
