‘Sexting’ teen girl charged with child porn

By Michelle Kapusta,

A Canadian teenager has been found guilty of child pornography charges after "sexting" pictures of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend.

According to The Province, the teenage girl, who was 16 years old at the time, has been found guilty by the Victoria Youth Justice Court of possessing and distributing child pornography as well as uttering threats.

In November of 2012, the teen learned that her boyfriend was still talking to his ex-girlfriend.

"The accused was not at all happy that he was still in touch with his ex," Crown Prosecutor Chandra Fisher told CNN.

The trial alleged that the girl threatened her boyfriend’s ex on Facebook and then sent some explicit photos of her to other people. The shots came off of her boyfriend’s phone.

The accused teen's attorney, Christopher Mackie, told CNN that the charges were inappropriate.

"Our sights have always been set on the constitutional question ... She never denied that she did this. Online bullying, yes. Child pornography, no."

The teen is out on bail awaiting sentencing.
