The Sony Playstation Sly Cooper franchise is getting the feature film treatment and will sneak into theaters sometime in 2016.
The CG film is based off the franchise that featured the cast of a thieving raccoon, clever turtle and strong hippo, reports Forbes. The video game franchise focused on stealth and plenty of comedy. The most recent title was Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time.
There is no set release date, just the tentative 2016 that Blockade Entertainment hopes to release in, according to Variety. The animated film is being directed and written by Kevin Munroe. He previously pulled double duty for the TMNT film seven years ago.
The film will follow the main character of Sly as he learns about his real family's history of producing clever thieves worldwide. Sly and his two friends Bentley Turtle and Murray Hippo, they go on an adventure to piece together the Cooper Clan's family secrets book as the metallic Russian owl Clockwerk is hot on the trail.
Forbes notes that Sony also is developing a Ratchet & Clank film, off one of its many other popular game franchises.
