While Lorde, 17, was picking up her Grammys on Sunday, there were some disgruntled tweets going around about her age.
The singer has had an indescribable amount of success with her song “Royals,” which hit number one on the Billboard 100 last year. Some have speculated about Lorde’s age since her success is huge for a 17-year-old. Since the tweets, TheHairPin has bought a copy of Lorde’s birth certificate for $17.02, and it proves that Lorde, whose full name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, was born on November 7, 1996.
According to Vanity Fair, the singer is well aware of the speculation, and has made a joke out of it saying, "Hi, I'm Ella, and I'm actually 45."
The singer is very well rounded, and down to earth. Earlier this week, Lorde made the trip back to New Zealand with her family and was surprised and a bit upset that the paparazzi were waiting for her, and almost pushed her down. She understands that being famous comes with a price, which is well worth it for the happiness of her fans.
