Around 1:30 p.m., South Carolina State University student Brandon Robinson, 20, was shot outside the Andrew Hugine Dorms. Authorities are currently searching for four suspects.
S.C. State Police Chief Mernard Clarkson said that no suspects have been identified, however at Claflin University, which is across of the street from the S.C. State, issued an alert to their students when someone identified one suspect as Justin Bernard Singleton of Charleston, according to WLTX.
The alert that was sent out to Claftin students was pulled after no threat appeared.
World News reports Chief Clarkson said the perimeter of the campus was secure if the suspects tried to return, as well as parents should not be worried. All of the students were safe.
This shooting comes after a shooting at Purdue University on Tuesday. Cody Cousins, 23, shot and stabbed Andrew Boldt, 22, in an engineering building on campus. Both were TA’s for the same professor.
S.C. State is in Orangeburg, and is a historically an African American college.
