Phil Everly, one half of the record setting classic duo, The Everly Brothers, died early this afternoon. Everly was 74 years old.
During the late 1950s and 1960s, the band was among a few elite artists in the music industry that could often be heard on record players all over the United States and beyond. The brothers were known for their harmonies and emotional, memorable lyrics.
The duo started as songwriters in the music industry before they signed a deal with Cadence Records back in 1957. Following that deal, the duo skyrocketed to fame and reached millions of fans with their unique musical styling.
The band set records during their time writing music. As a band they wrote and performed 35 top 100 songs. This is more than any vocal pairing ever.
