TV Ratings: 56th annual Grammy Awards consistent, Pro Bowl down

By Kyle Johnson,

The 56th annual Grammy Awards Sunday won the night on Sunday, but the early numbers didn't improve over last year in the advertiser-important demographic. Music's biggest night still dominated the evening though.

Thanks to the Grammys, CBS took the win Sunday night, averaging an 8.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 25.87 million viewers, reports HitFix. 60 Minutes managed a 2.1 in the demo to start the night off. The Grammys then averaged a 9.9 in the demo over its more than three-hour runtime.

No other network came close, with NBC taking second with 9.27 million viewers and a 3.1 in the demo. The Chris Collinsworth special ahead of the Pro Bowl managed to win its timeslot with a 3.0 rating. The Pro Bowl then slipped slightly from the previous year with a 3.2 in the demo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC pulled off third with a low 1.3 in the 18-49 demo and 5.6 million viewers for the night. The Bachelor special that featured Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici's wedding only pulled in a 1.6 in the demo, which was actually an improvement from the last aired wedding.

Fox suffered the most against the Grammys, only managing a 1.3 in the demo and a weak 3 million viewers. The Simpsons was down to a 1.7. Bob's Burgers also slipped to a 1.5, while Family Guy dropped heavily to a 2.0 in the ratings. American Dad finished the night off also quite low with a 1.5 rating.
