There were two men injured after falling off of Mardi Gras parade floats in New Orleans.
Liz Belcher, EMS spokesperson, said the first fall occurred on a float in the Krewe of Alla parade at around 4:15 p.m., according to ABC . The victim was in stable condition.
Belcher stated that the second male victim fell from a different, double-decker float at around 5:30 p.m. and was in critical condition on the way to the city’s trauma center.
Even after fears of poor weather, the Members of the Slidell Krewe of Dionysus made a decision that they would be parading, rain or shine, and that’s exactly what they did, according to NOLA.com
Later on, Belcher found out that the second victim was stabilized. The names and ages of both men remain undisclosed.
Heavy thunderstorms and quick rainfall of up to two to four inches in a short period of time were predicted. The weather was apparently not the issue during the parade.
Although Mardi Gras takes place on March 4th this year, many parades will continue to roll through town until the anticipated day comes.
