Just one day after proclaiming he’s giving his last interview about his personal life to New York Magazine and dismissing all forms of public life, it’s been revealed Alec Baldwin will play an NBC reporter in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU.
The casting is certainly ironic, considering Baldwin’s recent interview.
According to Deadline, NBC confirmed on Tuesday that the former 30 Rock star would be portraying controversial journalist Jimmy MacArthur on the show, which will air March 19.
In his New York Magazine cover story, Baldwin made it clear, “I loathe and despise the media in a way I did not think possible.”
“In our story, ‘Jimmy Mac’s’ reporting interferes with the investigation, which has a ripple effect when the case goes to trial,” explained Law & Order executive producer, Warren Leight.
Katie Couric will also appear in the episode as herself. The show’s star, Mariska Hargitay, will make her directorial debut on the special episode.
