Ben McKenzie likes being on the good side of the law. The actor has been cast as James Gordon in Fox's upcoming series Gotham.
Since starting out as troubled teenager, Ryan Atwood in the series The O.C., McKenzie played rookie police officer in the series, Southland. Now McKenzie has been cast for the lead role of James Gordon in the Fox series Gotham, reports E! News.
The series will follow Gordon before he is promoted to police commissioner and is just a simple cop on a crooked force.
The show is also set to feature the beginnings of many of the villains who faced Bruce Wayne’s superhero alter ego according to the Los Angeles Times. Bruno Heller will be the executive producer of the show and director for the pilot.
After Warner Bros. Television confirmed the news Saturday, McKenzie shared his excitement and assurance to not let fans down on Twitter by tweeting, “All I can promise is I will do my best not to screw this up. Can’t wait to get to work.”
