Miley Cyrus isn’t the only one in her family taking a hip-hop approach with her music. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, recently teamed up with rapper, Buck 22, to release a different version of his hit song, “Achy Breaky Heart.”
The 1992 country hit has a different take on the original line-danceable song. “Achy Break 2” was released on rapper Buck 22’s YouTube page on Feb. 11.
This song is similar to many of the things his 21-year-old daughter has been performing in her videos. Twerking and smoking out of hookahs with a catchy pop chorus – which happens to be the chorus to his original song – make up the bizarre UFO themed video.
Larry King also makes a cameo in the very beginning.
According to Rolling Stone, Buck 22 is a fairly new hip-hop artist who comes from an impressive family line. His father is jazz drummer Bill Elliott, and R&B singer Dionne Warwick is his mother.
Buck 22 explained how the odd duo came together for the new single saying, “I asked [Billy Ray Cyrus] if he would mind if I could take a crack at remaking ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ and he looked at me for a moment and said, ‘lots of people have tried already, but go for it.’”
“He didn’t have a clue that I had already gone into the lab and cooked up a demo of what I thought would be a fun EDM/hip-hop styled version, which at the time only had a sample from the original of his voice,” he continues. “He liked what he heard and, weeks later, arrived at the session to record this track.”
