Authorities in Virginia have found a body that could be that of a missing police captain.
WTVR is reporting that several sources have confirmed that the body found on Thursday is believed to be Waynesboro Police Department Reserve Unit Captain Kevin Quick.
CNN has noted that officials are still working to identify the remains.
Quick was last seen leaving his mother’s house Friday night and was headed to see his daughter about 20 miles away. He never arrived and his family reported him missing the next day.
A break in the case came Tuesday night when police took three siblings in Alexandria into custody. Police linked the trio to a shooting in which the captain’s SUV was the alleged getaway car. The vehicle was found four miles from the scene of the crime.
Investigators were hoping that the brother and his two sisters could provide some information about what happened to the 45-year-old.
The body of the deceased was discovered off a road in a rural area.
