Being homeless comes with many hardships, but mountain lion attacks are not typically one of them. However, that is what happened to a homeless man in California this weekend.
According to NBC10, a 50-year-old homeless man was attacked by what might be a mountain lion, in Perris, California last weekend.
While it is known that the attack did happen, the lion hasn't been caught.
"We are about 99 percent that it was a lion. The conclusion is based solely on the victim's injuries and the extent of the injuries," Lt. Patrick Foy, California Department of Fish and Game, told the Press Enterprise, reports the Associated Press.
The likelihood of a person encountering a mountain lion in Southern California is rare, and the AP notes that there have only been 15 attacks since 1986, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife files.
Perris residents do not need to be fearful of mountain lion attacks, well except for every year and a half to two years, or so.
