CBS has ordered a new reality television pilot from Nigel Lythgoe titled, In the Spotlight.

The upcoming show will be based off of a show that is designed to be similar to the Turkish format of a variety singing competition, Variety reported.

The Turkish show, which goes by a different name, features 12 contestants on a dark circular stage that has a moving spotlight that lands on each vocalist. When the spotlight lands on them, they will sing for 15 to 20 seconds.

This will be one of the first singing competition shows that will be featured on CBS. As a network, they are known for The Amazing Race, which is an adventure reality TV show that features contestants in a race around the world, The Hollywood Reporter added.

Lythgoe will be producing the show along with Kalen Productions and Collins Avenue Entertainment.

Lythgoe is known for his work on hit reality TV shows such as American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. He was behind the first few seasons of Idol, which proved to be very successful.
