'CSI' will get another spin-off

Plans are in the works for another spinoff of CSI, the show that has been popular since 2000.

CSI is short for Crime Scene Investigation. The show focuses on an elite team of forensic investigation experts. CSI co-creators, Carol Mendelsohn and Ann Donahue will write the script for the pilot. The spinoff is inspired by Mary Aiken’s work in the field of psychology.

The main character in the spinoff will be Avery Ryan, a Special Agent in Charge at the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI in Quantico. The spinoff will revolve around the possibility of chasing technology-amplified larceny. The show will deal with faceless criminals who commit global crimes, according to Variety.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman will executive produce the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original CSI began in 2000, and has had more success than previous spinoff of a New York and a Miami edition of the show. The CBS Television Studios ranks CSI as one of the top global franchises in the world. The show is also popular abroad, and is broadcast in many countries around the world.
