Daily Wrap of All Things for Feb 8: 'X Factor,' Black History Month and Selena Gomez

By Samantha Ravenscroft,

Here’s our daily wrap of all things for Saturday, Feb. 8:

Fox has decided to cancel The X Factor after only being on the air for three seasons. It was also announced that Simon Cowell would be returning to British network ITV for his UK version of the show. The singing competition is just one of many that has been on air over the past few years, but unfortunately for X Factor, it has had a decrease in ratings over the past two seasons.

One California school has apologized for its offensive lunch menu for Black History Month. The Northern Californian Carondelet High School for Girls included fried chicken, cornbread and watermelon on their menu in an attempt to celebrate Black History Month. Principal Nancy Libby issued her apology to parents, saying, “Please know that at no time at Carondelet do we wish to perpetrate racial stereotypes.”

Juan Garcia, who was charged for stalking Selena Gomez, has been sentenced to 120 days in jail. After his jail sentence, he will have to remain 150 yards away from the “Come & Get It” singer for three years while also remaining on probation. Garcia was arrested outside of Gomez’s California home.
