She’s since stepped out with rumored new boyfriend, Brooks Laich, but Julianne Hough said in a recent interview that she wanted to stay single for an entire year after ending her three-year relationship with Ryan Seacrest in April 2013.

The Safe Haven actress, 25, opened up in the March issue of Self magazine about her past relationships.

"I'm a relationship girl, and I feel so grateful for the ones I've been in. They've been excellent -- I've been hurt but never angry -- and they've helped me grow to be who I am today,” she said. With that said, she said “my goal has been to be single for an entire year” and focus on herself.

She admits there were times where she thought “this sucks!” but ultimately, she wants her happiness to come from within.

"I honestly don't care if I meet somebody or not. I'm just loving life on my own with my own two feet on the ground,” she said.

Hough has since met someone, and that’s Canadian hockey player, Laich. The two were spotted holding hands over the weekend in Los Angeles.
