Fans of Downton Abbey will see three new faces during the hit British drama’s fifth season. Robert E. Grant, Anna Chancellor and Rade Sherbedgia have all joined the cast.
Grant, who recently appeared on the HBO series Girls and also starred on Doctor Who, has been cast as Simon Bricker, who will visit Downton as the Granthams’ guest.
The actor, 56, has wondered in the past why creator Julian Fellowes had not cast him in the show before, notes The Telegraph. “I have no idea. I know Julian, but I was never asked. I’ve never been up for it. Maybe next series,” he said in 2012. Grant did work with Fellowes on Gosford Park, the Robert Altman-directed film that earned Fellowes an Oscar for his script.
According to E! News, Chancellor has been cast as Lady Anstruther, while Sherbedgia will appear as a Russian refugee.
Chancellor is known for roles in Four Weddings And A Funeral, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the BRitish series Pramface. Sherbedgia starred on 24 and appeared in Snatch., Batman Begins and Shooter.
Downton Abbey’s fifth season will start in the fall on ITV in the U.K. and next year on PBS in the U.S. Many of the show’s best known stars, including Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Dockery will all be back for season five.
