Drake Bell, former Nickelodeon star, files for bankruptcy

Drake Bell, a former Nickelodeon star who was one half of Drake & Josh, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy. He’s over $500,000 in debt after earning less than $15,000 in 2013.

Bell, 26, filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday, reports TMZ. Legal documents show that he owes a total of $581,000 and back taxes. His monthly expenses reach $18,771, even though he’s only making $2,820 a month.

According to The Huffington Post, it was reported last year by RadarOnline that Bell was looking to unload his Los Angeles home with an asking price of $1.4 million. A few months later, it was reported that the house was being foreclosed.

He claims that he made $408,000 in 2012, but he only made $14,099 in 2013.

Bell starred on Drake & Josh from 2004 to 2007. He did reinvent himself as a cartoon voice actor, voicing Spider-Man for Ultimate Spider-Man, but clearly he’s not earning enough money from those gigs. He has signed on for a couple of movies that he’s working on now.

The Huffington Post notes that he did chat with fans during a Reddit AMA in January, confirming that Drake & Josh movie is being written. He asked his fans to take to social media and “make it blow up.”
