Following his arrest last month in Los Angeles, the former All-Pro safety has been charged with raping two women.
USA Today Sports has reported that Darren Sharper has been charged with drugging and raping two women in California, Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey's office announced Friday.
He is suspected of drugging and raping women in three other states as well.
According to The Associated Press, Sharper’s lawyers requested that his arraignment be postponed. It is now set for Feb. 20.
The criminal complaints filed against the 38-year-old accuse him of giving the women, whom he met in L.A., shots of alcohol before they blacked out. The alcohol could have contained a date rape drug or something similar. Both woman allege that they were sexually assaulted by the former player.
If Sharper is convicted in California, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
The former Packers and Saints star worked for the NFL Network after his playing career. On Jan. 18 he was “suspended without pay until further notice.”
