Former Friends star David Schwimmer has signed on to star in and produce Irreversible, a comedy pilot in the works at ABC.
Irreversible, which is based on the Israeli show Bilti Hafich, would be Schwimmer’s first starring role since Friends ended. TV Guide reports that he would play a writer named Andy. He’s one-half of a self-centered couple who create their own problems and have to solve them.
According to Deadline, the project is a Sony Pictures TV production and will be executive produced by Peter Tolan. Segahl Avin, who co-created the Israeli show, is set to write and direct the pilot, which will film in New York.
Michael Wimer and Israeli broadcaster Reshet TV are also producing, along with Schwimmer.
Schwimmer played Ross Geller on Friends for 10 seasons. Since then, he’s had an arc on Showtime’s Web Therapy with Lisa Kudrow and appeared on 30 Rock. He’s also a member of the main voice cast for the Madagascar films.
The Emmy nominated actor also directed the features Run, Fatboy, Run and Trust.
