Hayden Panettiere could be waiting for a while to get married to her fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko. Panettiere has put her wedding on hold for the time being until the violence and protest that is occurring in her fiancé’s homeland of Ukraine comes to an end.
After announcing their engagement back in October, Panettiere has halted her wedding plans to benefit her soon-to-be husband.
According to to Business Standard, Klitschko was reported as saying, “With the circumstances right now it’s hard for us to set a date.”
Vitali Klitschko, the brother of Panettiere’s fiancé and her future brother-in-law, is the leader of the main opposition to the government in the protests, which puts Klitschko right in the middle of the conflict.
Previously, Panettiere tweeted her support for the demonstrators on Wednesday, saying, “Let's use our privilege of freedom to put an end to the suffering of the Ukrainian people and spread justice!” Panettiere also shared a video called “I am a Ukrainian” along with the tweet that explained why people are protecting the government now.
Panettiere met Klitschko, who is a heavyweight world boxing champion, in 2009 and the two began dating soon after. After two years, it was announced that the couple had broken up.
However, the two remained amicable, citing the long-distance nature of the relationship as the reason for the split. In April, Panettiere confirmed that the two were back together, only five months before their engagement.
