INXS makes Australian music chart history

By Chelsea Lewis ,

Rock 'n' roll group INXS has made Australian music chart history. The group has the top two spots on this week's album charts. This is the first time that a homegrown act has managed to accomplish this.

This musical accomplishment comes only a week after an Australian broadcaster Channel 7 showed a two-part mini-series that was focused on INXS titled Never Tear Us Apart. Following those shows the band had six entires on the AIRA top 40 album charts, Billboard added.

Sydney Morning Herald reported that the final part of the series aired on Sunday and repeats of the entire series will be shown on Monday and Tuesday.

No band has been able to take over the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the ARIA album charts until now.

This television special has helped to renew interest in the band and their 1987 album, Kick, ended up at the No. 2 spot on the charts.

In November 2012, the remaining members of the group announced that they were breaking up after 35 years.
