Jennifer Lopez's latest project, a TV drama titled Shades of Blue, has received a full 13-episode series order from NBC.
Lopez will star in the show as Harlee McCord, a single mom, brought on to help the FBI's anti-corruption task force. The assignment brings her to a crossroads because the people she is assigned to watch help her with her daughter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Adi Hasak, who is known for his work on the newly-released 3 Days to Kill, is attached to write the show and will also be an executive producer. Lopez is staying connected to her American Idol family, Ryan Seacrest productions will also be working on the show, Entertainment Weekly added.
NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke spoke about having Lopez become a member of the NBC family. "Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak."
Salke added that she as pleased that Lopez would be returning to acting and she is certain "she will create this complicated character in a vivid way that will breathe new life into the cop show genre."
