Mary Grace Canfield, a television actress who appeared on Green Acres, died on Saturday. She was 89-years-old.
Canfield’s death was confirmed on Monday by her daughter, Phoebe Alexiades. She told the Associated Press that her mother died of lung cancer at a Santa Barbara, California hospice.
Canfield is best known for playing tomboy Ralph, known for her overall outfit, on Green Acres. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she appeared in 41 episodes of the show, which ran from 1965 to 1971. It also starred Eva Gabor and Eddie Albert. Her character was known for the cheery “Howdy doody” greeting.
She appeared on television for four decades, also making appearances on General Hospital and The Hathaways. She also had a four-episode run on Bewitched and made appearances on The Andy Griffith Show and Hazel.
While she rarely did films, she did make a few appearances on the big screen, including one in the Disney classic Pollyanna.
The Rochester, New York native made her last screen appearance in 1993 and did return to the role of Ralph Monroe in the 1990 TV movie Return to Green Acres.
