Following the success of Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey will be taking a break from acting to soak it all in. McConaughey has won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award so far for his role as Ron Woodruff in the film. He’s also up for an Oscar.
McConaughey spoke to Variety and seemed pleased with the way his career has been going since getting so much recognition for his performance. "I've got a lot to be thankful for," he admitted.
Speaking in the third person, the actor said of his recent success "if any of those films or his performances are in awards shows, he's going to go, heart high and head up, and look them all in the eye and say, 'Damn right this is a great time in my career.'"
He also gushed about his wife, Camila Alves, who he shares two children with. McConaughey credited her with giving him the support he needs to achieve his goals, E! Online reports.
“We’re a team. I know it’s not easy on her, though she does it with aplomb,” he said.
The Academy Awards will take place on March 2 and after that, McConaughey will focus on being a family man.
"For the next two months, I'm playing the character of Matthew McConaughey, an actor proud of the films he's been in,” he said.
