McConaughey recently won Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards in January, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This puts him in a good position for the Academy Awards on March 2.

McConaughey has taken on many roles including Mark Hanna in The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas in Magic Mike. His Texan regional charm has been seen on the television series Eastbound and Down and more recently, as Detective Rust Cohle in the HBO series True Detective.

Many don’t know it, but McConaughey is also a director. The Academy Award winner directed the shorts The Rebel and Chicano Chariots.
