Christina Aguilera made the announcement on February 20 that she is expecting a baby, almost one week after she shared her happy engagement news, and new details have been released!
A source told US Weekly that despite the fact the engagement news was so close to the baby news, The Voice singer’s fiancé, Matt Rutler, had been planning to propose before Aguilera discovered the news of her pregnancy.
The pregnancy “wasn’t expected, but it also wasn’t unwelcome. They are all very excited though!” a source revealed.
Another source disclosed to US Magazine that Rutler had been “working on the ring for over a year,” before he finally proposed on February 12th, right before Valentine's Day.
“He wanted to do something that had meaning for both of them,” the source added.
Rutler chose the setting for the proposal, which was in the couple’s new backyard, where candles and red roses surrounded the area. He took Aguilera to a gazebo and asked her to marry him, of course receiving a positive response.
According to In Touch, Rutler’s mom and the rest of Rutler's family has already considered Aguilera a part of the family.
“We love Christina,” Kathleen Rutler told In Touch. “She’s a Rutler."
