Authorities in Virginia are searching for the person or persons who threw a newborn calf into a dumpster.
WWBT has reported that animal control officials in the town of Dinwiddie, are working to find out who discarded the baby calf in a dumpster. The newborn animal was dumped and left for dead in the trash bin.
A couple noticed the calf alive in the bin and witnessed the animal’s scared and agonizing moments in the dumpster.
"We looked over inside the dumpster and it was laying right there. And it just started going crazy," said Chaley Sadler. "It got caught up in the corner, and was banging its head up on the side, and I was just screaming and crying."
Veterinarian’s tried to save the newborn’s life, but it had to be euthanized.
According to Virginia law, Code 3.2-6504 states that no person shall abandon or dump any animal. A violation of the code is a class 3 misdemeanor and punishable with a fine.
