Most of us who have seen the Back to the Future trilogy can admit we’ve hoped that hoverboards and flying cars would become reality by 2015. While those are still a long way off, one thing is possible - power-lace Nike sneakers.
In Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly put on his sneakers and shouted “Power laces!" He was shocked to see his new Nikes automatically lace themselves up in a fast motion.
Next year, you could be witnessing the same technology on your feet that Marty did. Nike designer Tinker Hatfield confirmed to Sole Collector that the special sneakers will come out in 2015, according to Time.
However, Hatflield offered no further details, such as which models will get the lacing system.
Previously, Nike released Nike Air Mags to the public in 2011, but the 1,500 pairs of sneakers quickly sold out. The sneakers were limited replicas that did not have the power lace feature, according to The Herald Sun.
The future awaits us as 2015 will bring sneaker collectors one step closer to feeling like Marty McFly.
