The producers of the 86th Annual Academy Awards said on Tuesday that singer/producer Pharrell Williams will sing his nominated song, "Happy."
Williams is nominated for his song "Happy" from the movie, Despicable Me 2. According to Variety, Universal Studios mounted a major Oscar campaign for Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me 2, which is about Gru, an ex-supervillain who is recruited by the Anti-Villain League.
Williams, 40, had a great year with his recent hit "Get Lucky", according to the Associated Press. In January, he won Grammys for Producer of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance with Daft Punk.
He was nominated as a producer for Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. Williams also had success with his previous album, In My Mind.
Williams recently made a splash, not only with his music, but with a special wardrobe item. His hat kept people talking for days after the Grammy Awards.
The 86th Annual Academy Awards will be presented March 2 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.
