Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz have now signed on to play the leading roles in the upcoming film, The Lobster.
The Lobster will be the first English film from Oscar-nominated Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, Variety reported.
Lanthimos described his excitement about having such talented actors on board his recent project. "I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to work with such great actors. Their contribution to our film will enrich and expand the world we are trying to create and explore. Furthermore our team of old and new collaborators makes me very confident and excited to start making this film," said the Oscar-nominated director.
Weisz and Farrell are joining Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Olivia Colman, Ariane Labed and Aggeliki Papoulia, who had been previously casted in the film. Other roles in the film are currently being cast.
The upcoming movie was written by Lanthimos and his well known and longtime collaborator, Efthimis Filippou, The Hollywood Reporter added.
The Lobster is described as a modern love story set in the far future. In this future world finding a partner in life is a matter of life and death.
The film will go into production in late March in Ireland. The project is being produced by Element Pictures, Limp and Scarlet Films.
Weisz is known for her work on films such as The Mummy and Oz: The Great and Powerful. Farrell can be seen in the upcoming Valentine's Day-inspired film, Winter's Tale.
