Sam Mendes will be featured at the upcoming Roundabout’s Spring Gala event. Mendes will be honored with the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theater.
Mendes is known for directing American Beauty, for which he won an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Director. He also worked on Skyfall and Revolutionary Road. He also directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the London stage.
The gala, which is titled 'In Here, Life is Beautiful,' will be taking place on March 10 at the Gotham's Hammerstein Ballroom, Variety reported.
The gala has put together a star-studded tribute for Mendes, which will include performances by Ethan Hawke, Bernadette Peters, Marc Shaiman, Alan Cumming, Brian d’Arcy James, and Aaron Krohn. Also attending the event will be Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Cynthia Nixon, Kathy Bates, Dylan Baker, and Richard Easton.
Mendes is currently working on an upcoming show for the Showtime network, Penny Dreadful, Metro UK reported. This reunited Mendes with Skyfall writer John Logan. The first full-length trailer has hit the web. You can watch it below.
