Steve Nash re-injures leg, leaves game early

Steve Nash left the Los Angeles Lakes game against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday early due to nerve irritation in his left leg. The Bulls won the game 92-86.
Nash got contact on his left leg from the Bulls Kirk Hinrich as he turned the ball over with about nine minutes left in the third quarter. He remained in the game until five minutes left in the third quarter, then went right to the locker room. Nash’s back had tightened up, which caused him to limp onto the court, according to Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni, ESPN reports.
"I just took a knee to the spot where I broke my leg," Nash said. "Ever since I did that I've had a lot of nerve issues there and it just really flared up on me. I don't think it's going to be a long-term thing at all. Hopefully it's something that can just settle down this week, hopefully by Tuesday."
This is the second year in a row that Nash has had a leg injury. He first injured his leg in October 2012 when he collided with Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard. The collision resulted in nerve damage as well as a fracture and Nash was out for 24 games last season, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Nash, who is now 40, has played in three of the Lakers last four games. He has played in just nine games this season. On Sunday against the Bulls, he had eight points, two assists, and two rebounds. He averaged 13 points and seven assists in his first two games back.
Nash will be re-evaluated on Monday. The Lakers play the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
