Teddy Bridgewater declares himself the best quarterback in the NFL draft

By Ian O'Brien,

Louisville University's Teddy Bridgewater believes he deserves the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

FOX Sports reported that Bridgewater told a frenzy of NFL Combine interviewers he is "the best quarterback" in this year's draft class.

Bridgewater vowed to back up his words on the field, saying, "I’m not just going to sit up here and just say it. Obviously, actions have to back up these words and I’m just confident in myself ... I’m just going to go out there and prove that I’m the best guy." according to Ultimate Texans.

He has gained nine pounds in an effort to build muscle as he enters the pros. His goal weight is in the range of 220 to 225 pounds.

Bridgewater showed potential as a franchise quarterback in the 2013 college football season, passing for 3,970 yards with 31 touchdown passes and only four interceptions. He also completed 71 percent of his passes.

Bridgewater capped off his season with a memorable performance in the Russell Athletic Bowl, where he threw for 447 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78 percent of his passes in a 36-9 win.

The draft will begin on May 8.
