In honor of George Strait’s final tour, “The Cowboy Rides Away,” we would like to take a look at some of his greatest musical accomplishments.
George Harvey Strait is a country icon, who is best known for his authentic roots. He was born May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas, where he grew up with his parents on a ranch. He began singing all throughout Texas with his band until he signed with MCA Nashville Records, who he has remained faithful to all these years. His country music career is above any other artist and impressive to examine. He falls behind two greats, The Beatles and Elvis Presley, with the record of most gold and platinum albums in history.
On Friday he gave his farewell performance to Phoenix, AZ, but he still has several more stops before he takes his last bow. George will be wrapping up the tour in Arlington, Texas – how fitting – on June 7, 2014 to say his last goodbye.
Your favorite may not have made the countdown, but with so many chart-topping singles it was hard to narrow it down to only ten. Join us as we walk down memory lane with the top 10 best from the King of Country himself, George Strait.
