A new reality show has duped 12 American women into thinking they’re competing for the affection of Prince Harry, played by Englishman Matthew Hicks, who looks exactly like him. It’s similar to that of 2003’s Joe Millionaire, in which contestants believe they’re vying for the affection of a wealthy man but he’s just an average person.
Somehow the producers of this Fox show managed to convince the women that Hicks is really Prince Harry in I Wanna Marry ‘Harry’, spending weeks trying to impress him at Englefield House in Berkshire.
Deadline reports the show has been kept a secret for a while but it was greenlit back in August. It will be produced by Ryan Seacrest Prods. and ZigZag Prods.
The show will premiere on May 27.
Meanwhile, the royal, who obviously has absolutely no ties to the reality show, is getting serious in his love life. Sources told Us Weekly he’s close to popping the question to his girlfriend Cressida Bonas. The insider said he could even be “engaged by the end of this year.”
