Shirley Jones is celebrating her 80th birthday in great form; she is planning a skydiving adventure.
The Oscar-winning actress, who turns 80 on March 31, told the Associated Press that skydiving is something she wanted to do all of her life.
Jones is also taking into consideration all of the dangers inherent in the activity, and has decided to do a tandem jump for her birthday. She will be jumping in tandem on Monday with an instructor in Perris, a popular Southern California diving spot.
The actress is known for her role on TV’s The Partridge Family. The Partridge Family was a breakout 70s hit that starred David Cassidy. Jones also starred in several Broadway shows including Oklahoma! and Carousel. She won an Academy Award for her role in Elmer Gantry. According to Parade, Jones says that she doesn’t feel like a “spoiled Hollywood movie star or a jaded TV icon.”
Her family members have put together a big party on Sunday to celebrate Jones’ 80 years. They have planned a gathering that includes 12 grandchildren.
