Angelina Jolie talks 'Maleficent,' daughter Vivian's film debut and double mastectomy

Angelina Jolie opened up to Entertainment Weekly to promote her film Maleficent, where she opened up about her kids with fiancé Brad Pitt; Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 7, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 5.

She admits she can be stiff when she’s working or away from home, but her kids provide her with the ability to feel like a kid again.

“Outside my home I can be somewhat serious," she told EW. But with her family, "We laugh and we play, and I'm light again, and I'm a kid again, and I'm loving and soft again because they've brought that back in my life."

Jolie also talked about the decision to cast their daughter, Vivian, in the film. "The other 3- and 4-year-old [actors] wouldn't come near me," she explained. "It had to be a child that liked me and wasn't afraid of my horns and my eyes and my claws. So it had to be Viv."

Jolie also touched on her health, having undergone surgery for preventive double mastectomy, saying she is planning to undergo another surgery.

“I was very, very moved by all the support and kindness from so many people,” she said of the public’s support after revealing her surgery in May.
