Christian Slater may want to stop trying to score a long-term TV gig and just go back to movies. The actor’s latest show, Mind Games, has been cancelled by ABC after five episodes.
ABC has decided to replace the show with Resurrection repeats for the next two Tuesdays at 10 p.m., reports Entertainment Weekly. The show, which co-starred Steve Zahn, never drew any large audience, earning just 2 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The network will start Celebrity Wife Swap on April 15 during the timeslot, notes Deadline.
Every network has a timeslot that struggles and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. is ABC’s Achilles heel. Mind Games is the third show this season to get cancelled after having the slot. The other two were Lucky 7 and Killer Women.
Slater himself is a bad luck charm, as it is the Heathers actor’s fourth show since 2008. Only one of these - Fox’s comedy Breaking In - earned a second season. That show was cancelled early in its second season.
Other failed Slater shows include My Own Worst Enemy (2008) and The Forgotten (2009).
