Avicii was hospitalized on Thursday night in Miami, Fla., forcing him to cancel a concert at SLS South Beach. His rep insisted that he’s doing fine, but it’s still unknown what sent him to the hospital in the first place.
Shortly before he was meant to come out and perform, Australian duo Cazzette announced that he wouldn’t be able to make it due to the hospitalization. In a brief message on Twitter, which has since been deleted, Avicii said his brother would be filling in for him.
"At the hospital. Extremely bummed about missing my show at the Avicii Hotel. My brother @Alesso is stepping up and covering for me,” he wrote, Billboard reports.
Avicii’s performance was so hyped up by the SLS Hotel that his name was even put up in a sign in front of the hotel. He’s no longer checked into the hotel, even after TMZ reported he was discharged from the hospital.
Whatever landed him in the hospital was definitely sudden, because just hours before he was supposed to perform everything seemed in order.
His rep has assured he is “doing better" and "going to be fine." Avicii is in town ahead of the much anticipated Ultra Music Festival.
