Brooklyn law student arrested for questioning cops

By Michelle Kapusta,

A Brooklyn law student was arrested after he questioned NYPD officers for parking in a bus zone to grab food.

According to the New York Daily News, Tzvi Richt, is now suing the city and Officers Graham Brathwaite and Jason Pinero for the arrest.

The 22-year-old Cardozo School of Law student said that he received two disorderly conduct summonses for questioning the actions of the two officers.

The New York Post noted that the lawsuit states that in December, Richt was headed home from class when he noticed the officers honking at a man to move his car from a bus zone. The driver hustled back to his vehicle to avoid getting a ticket. After the man moved his car, however, Richt alleged that the officers pulled into the same prohibited spot.

The suit goes on to claim that the officers then got out of their cruiser and headed over to a nearby food truck. That is when Richt approached them and asked about the apparent double standard.

Brathwaite allegedly told the student to mind his own business before demanding identification and cuffing him.

The summonses against Richt were later dismissed and Brathwaite was transferred to desk duty while the law student’s claims are investigated.
