Cartoon Network is finally going back to its roots. The network, which used to air Tom & Jerry shorts and reruns of Scooby-Doo all the time, is finally reviving the two popular properties. A new series featuring the classic Looney Tunes shorts will also be coming back.
The Tom And Jerry Show is described as an all-new series that will keep the same insanity and style of the classic shorts, but in high-definition. Entertainment Weekly reports that the show will kick off on April 9 at 5:30 p.m.
Be Cool Scooby-Doo! brings back the iconic dog and his mystery solving team. In a press release posted at Deadline, Cartoon Network described it as a modern twist on the classic series. There’s no premiere date set for the Warner Bros. Animation production.
Lastly, there is Wabbit - A Looney Tunes Production. This is also all-new, with Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote, Yosemite Sam and more starring in new shorts inspired by the classics. There will also be some new characters like Bigfoot and Squeaks the squirrel.
Cartoon Network also announced several other new shows for the 2014-15 season, including Over the Garden Wall, which will feature Elijah Wood. The new series starring SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Boom, will also air during the season.
