CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson resigns

By Daniel S Levine,

Sharyl Attkisson, a longtime investigative correspondent for CBS News, has resigned from the network. The decision reportedly came after months of talks and her dissatisfaction with what she perceived as a growing liberal bias at CBS News.

Sources for Politico said that the 20-year veteran was not happy with the liberal bias and the growing influence CBS’ corporate partners appeared to have on the news division. She began to feel like her reporting was not appreciated and she had to fight just to get her reports to the air, Politico’s sources said.

Meanwhile, staffers also seemed to think she had her own agenda in her reporting on the Obama administration. She is currently writing Stonewalled: One Reporter's Fight for Truth in Obama's Washington, a book about how hard it is to report on President Barack Obama.

Attkisson told Politico that it was an “amicable” separation. However, when confirming that she is leaving on Twitter, she only wrote “I have resigned from CBS.”

“CBS News veteran Sharyl Attkisson is leaving the news division to pursue other endeavors,” Sonya McNair, the senior vice president for communications for CBS News, confirmed in a statement, reports The Washington Times. “We appreciate her many contributions and we wish her well.”

Last year, Attkisson was in the news when CBS confirmed that her computer was breached by a third party. She previously worked at CNN before joining CBS in 1993.
