Chelsea Handler plans to end her eight-year tenure with E! after her contract expires at the end of 2014.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports how Handler's manager Irving Azoff states that Handler is ending her late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately, after eight years.
Handler has been very outspoken about her disappointment with E!, and Azoff asserts that is why Handler hired him to serve as her manager. "She hired me to figure out her life after E!" he said. "We have at least seven suitors and many ideas."
Handler might turn to having a radio show or another weekly late night talk show on a different network, Azoff said. When Handler was on Howard Stern's radio show on March 5, she told Stern how the E! network is in a very sad state and that they have no idea what they are doing.
The Wrap noted that Handler told Stern that she would like to work with Netflix, because it would allow viewers to watch her show at any time.
Chelsea Lately debuted almost seven years ago in July 2007, but over the last few years, its ratings have declined.
Handler is already working on other projects. Earlier this month, she released her fifth book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, and she is a producer on Ross Mathews' late-night talk show Hello Ross, which also airs on E!. Handler is also working on a show for FX that is being created by and will be starring Jen Kirkman, who is a writer on Chelsea Lately.
