Country music star Jo Dee Messina recently released her latest album, Me.
The 12-song collection features Messina’s unique take on country music. She is one of the many country music singers using new methods to keep her name in the spotlight. A Kickstarter campaign helped her to raise more than $100,000.
Messina told Taste of Country, “I had to push through it. It was the toughest thing that I ever had to do. And while doing it, getting pummeled, people that didn’t understand what Kickstarter was or people in the industry that didn’t understand why I had to do things this way. They’re like, ‘What is she doing?’ I’m like, ‘I’m really just trying to keep my music alive.’”
Messina begins the album with the title song, “Not Dead Yet.” Ballads and up tempo songs follow. Other songs include “Love On a Maybe,” “Breakin’ It Down,” “A Woman’s Rant,” and “Peace Sign,” according to the Associated Press' review.
Messina’s recent albums also include Burn and Delicious Surprise. Messina has previously won Top New Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She has also won Outstanding Country Act and Outstanding Female Vocalist, and Act of the Year.
Me was released on Dreambound and Entertainment One.
