Shortstop Alex Gonzalez led the way for the Tigers by hitting 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. He proved to be clutch as he hit a game-tying triple in the seventh before driving in the game-winning run on a walk-off single, according to The Associated Press.

Catcher Victor Martinez hit a solo home run for the Tigers. Catcher Salvador Perez led the Royals with a 4-for-4 effort and drove in a run.

Joe Nathan got the win for the Tigers, and Wade Davis took the loss for the Royals after closer Greg Holland allowed an inherited runner to score the winning run.
